Brad + Sheila’s Wilmington, Delaware Wedding
Hey guys! I know it’s been a while since we’ve blogged — things have been super busy around here! Leif wanted me to blog this week, and since it is his birthday week, and Brad and Sheila did tell us they’d love to be featured on our blog, prepare yourselves for some seriously fabulous photo-liciousness.
When we first did the engagement session with Sheila & Brad at Millburn Orchards in Elkton, we knew they’d be a fun couple! (I already knew Brad from our dorm days at the University of Delaware. We were neighbors back in the day & he realized it was me after they contacted us to book the wedding! Small world!). These two are sweet, silly, and absolutely head over heels in love!
Super cute, guys!
Cool designs for their programs!
In case you were wondering about the location of their wedding, these two chose the absolutely gorgeous, ridiculously cool Delaware Museum of Natural History!
Thanks, Mr. Narwhal! (and Mrs.!)
Brad & Sheila, thank you so much for having us out to be part of your big day. You two are a warm, silly, fun-loving and each-other-loving couple who made the whole day a blast. We hope each day of your marriage is better than the last. Congratulations!!
Claire & Doug’s Awesomely Athletic Engagement Session
Meet Doug & Claire. Claire is a friend of ours from way back, so when she contacted us to shoot her wedding, we were thrilled! She & Doug are an amazing couple — fun-loving, incredibly positive, and all smiles and laughs 🙂
We started off their engagement session with a few photos at a beautiful covered bridge near their home in West Chester, PA.
Cool story: Claire is wearing her grandmother’s wedding ring as her engagement ring. Claire & Doug are both triathletes, so they spend a lot of time together training for events. When Doug proposed, he knew that she didn’t need another ring, so he bought her some amazing new racing gear for her bike & a beautiful Pandora bracelet. Each charm on her bracelet has a very personal meaning for her, including the one that tells their engagement story!
Since these two spend so much of their time training together, (they’ve even done Ironman competitions!), we had to include a little bit in their engagement shoot!
These two totally belong on a Wheaties box!
Claire and Doug, thanks for the awesome adventure! Stay tuned for their wedding at Mendenhall Inn next August!
What do you get when you mix a couple mad scientists, some dinosaur bones, unlimited backstage access to the Natural History Museum in New York City and an upcoming marriage? This:
Ok, obviously these guys aren’t mad scientists, but they are scientists. Two incredibly smart, fun-loving cats that we hit it off with right away. Jonah digs for dinosaur bones and had this little guy available, so we figured “what better background for the ring shot?” I was geeking out the whole time! Coolest museum tour ever! We even got on the roof for a few shots!
Those who know my awful, dry humor will know that we HAD to do the Jonah and the whale shoot. For those who can listen to youtube videos in another tab, enjoy this appropriate song while you take in the rest of the blog post 🙂
Jonah is super sweet with Kelsey. You can tell these guys are a great match. It’s going to be a beautiful wedding.
On to Central Park! These guys were a blast the whole way through.
We really dig this couple. They were kind to us, fun, and sweet to each other. Keep an eye out for their awesome farmstead wedding!
Tiffanee & Marcus are an über-cool couple, and today, they prove it. Tiffanee is a friend from high school, and when she came to meet with us for a consult, decided our house would be perfect for their shoot! We added in Browns Branch park and threw down for some fun mini-hike photos on the trail!
To the Leafo Fan-o, be sure to keep an eye out for their wedding, we should be posting about that one soon!
Gina & Nick’s Airplane Engagement Photography
When we first met Nick & Gina, we knew it would be a good fit. They’re laid back, they love the beach, and they’re totally awesome! They’re also having their wedding catered by one of our favorite restaurants at the beach — Nage! We decided to meet there, because we love having a good excuse to grab a prime rib burger 🙂
After chatting them up about their interests (both are runners, so they had a lot of stories to swap with Leif about the Warrior Dash, Run For Your Lives, and Tough Mudder!), we started talking about ideas for their engagement photos. Get this — these two actually met on a PLANE! They are both incredibly kind, and they met while both were helping other people. Gina was helping an elderly woman walk through the aisle to the restroom, and Nick was taking care of a co-worker who was feeling less than stellar. While waiting in line, they struck up a conversation, and sparks flew! After the flight, the two parted ways and Nick kicked himself for not grabbing her number. Fate intervened once again! They actually shared the same plane on the return flight, and Nick spotted Gina right at the end when she was letting people go ahead of her in line (once again, brought together by helping others!).
WHAT AN AWESOME STORY!!!!! Seriously, chills. I mean, with a story like that, our fate was pretty much sealed, too — we HAD to tie that in with their engagement shoot! Luckily, we have some incredibly awesome friends who were generous enough to hook us up with a sweet biplane for the photo session, and the rest is history! Check it out!
Nick and Gina, thank you so much for sharing your amazing story with us! We can’t wait to see you again for your beach wedding in Delaware this September!
M + E = AWESOME
I know I’ve mentioned this already, but we have been incredibly busy over the last few months & I am really excited to finally have the chance to blog about all of our adventures! Here’s an engagement session we shot in the fall — enjoy!
When we first met these two, we knew we were in for a good time. Brilliant, funny, and full of energy, they make each other laugh and their happiness is absolutely contagious. The two adore taking a break from their busy lives to wander the trails at Longwood Gardens, and this also happens to be the spot where E proposed! We lucked into an absolutely gorgeous Autumn day and could not have asked for a more beautiful backdrop to shoot their engagement photography. Check it out!
First of all, let’s talk about how awesome these two look! From the driver’s cap to the feathered earrings & riding boots, these guys are ready for their close-up! (Keep an eye out for this photo — E painted a miniature version of it to display at their wedding!)
I just love this shot. E always knows how to make M smile, and they are just so playful and cute!
Well hello there, Lumberjack!
And finally, a quick shot of the landscape and stunning sky. Days this gorgeous are such a gift!!
Thanks so much for a great shoot, guys! Stay tuned, blog readers — we’ll be posting their GORGEOUS winter wedding very soon!
Nina & Paul’s Glasgow Park Engagement Session
Hey guys!! I know it’s been a while — we have been SUPER busy over the last few months and I am so excited to finally share everything with you! Keep checking in, because we will be blogging like crazy with tons of cool weddings & engagements from all over the east coast! I wanted to start back today with a sweet engagement session right here in Delaware. Check out our adventures at Glasgow Park in Newark with the fabulous Nina & Paul!
Loving these colors. Isn’t her hair amazing?? (Yours, too, Paul — you know we have an affinity for Gingers!)
Smooches & lashes
Nina was so excited when she discovered all of the barns & cool backdrops at the park. Nice find, lady!
These two are the perfect combination of laid back & bubbly — you would never guess that they were modeling with only 3 hours of sleep. Thanks for such a fantastic shoot, guys!
Keep your eyes on the blog for their gorgeous wedding at the Hilton in Christiana this May 🙂
Kristen & Erik’s Engagement Session
You may remember these two from Rob & Jamie’s ridiculously fun Key West wedding. Erik is the bride’s brother, and he & Kristen actually got engaged while they were in Florida for the wedding! We had a blast getting to know them that week, and when they asked us to be their wedding photographers, we were SO excited! These two are silly, sweet, and have some serious movie quoting abilities. What’s not to love??
1. Our couple is awesome.
2. The old steel mill is a huge part of the town’s history. It helped build the world’s first Ferris wheel for the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair and the Golden Gate Bridge!
3. This area was inside a paid admission festival, blocked by a carnival ride, fenced off, and in a “No Trespassing” area. Many, many thanks to all three levels of security who were kind enough to let us in for one great shot!
4. Our couple is awesome!
Kristen & Erik, thanks again for the amazing adventure in your gorgeous town. We can’t wait for your destination wedding in Puerto Rico next summer!
Tim + Kelly
We know Mr. Mannino through his work in web and design. Tim is a co-founder of Kettul, a company that develops some pretty sweet Drupal-based websites for designers who don’t understand the geeky end of web — an awesome setup when you’re more art than computer!
Anyhow, Tim contacted us even before he proposed to his beautiful bride-to-be! Kelly hails out of England, and is a geek for all things geology. We totally think she rocks! (Sorry for the bad pun). Tim was visiting Kelly in the UK, and as they toured the Natural History Museum in London, he popped the question in front of the statue of Charles Darwin, one of Kelly’s all-time favorite scientists. You can tell these two are smart and love their craft!
Now that they’re living full-time in the United States, it only made sense to shoot their engagement in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
So sweet. When you’re around these two, it’s very obvious they are über in-tune with each other. These lovebirds first met when they were teens, and Tim told his family he was going to marry her. Years later, they were able to get back in touch & their chemistry crossed oceans to bring Tim’s prediction to fruition. Somebody is a bit clairvoyant!
Thanks so much for including us in your story, Tim & Kelly! Everyone keep an eye out for their wedding in Boston, Massachusetts!
Linley & Spencer’s Gorgeous Sussex County Engagement Shoot
If these guys look familiar, it’s because they ARE! Linley is the soon-to-be sister-in-law (or should we say BLISTER-in-law??) of one of our recent couples, Allisa Booth & Justin “Blistertoe” Stoeckel, and she and Spencer (Allisa’s brother) were both in Justin & Allisa’s wedding this past May. Linley is the bridesmaid peeking out from behind the Batman mask in one of the Leafo Booth photos. Gorgeous & creative — I think she’ll fit right in with the Booth family! We were totally excited when they asked us to be their wedding photographers, and it has been a lot of fun getting to know them and planning out all of the details together for their wedding & engagement photography! We talked quite a bit about Linley & Spencer’s interests and bounced around so many fun ideas that it was hard to narrow them down. We ended up doing our own little mini-tour of Sussex County, and the day was a great success! Check it out!
Our first stop was down in Laurel, Delaware for some engagement photos at Trap Pond. Linley & Spencer spend most of their weekends on the water, so spending some time in a rowboat was a fitting, romantic twist on a favorite pastime.
Yes, we were singing “I’m On A Boat” the entire time. Never thought I’d be on a booooaaat.. 😉
Next stop, sunflowers! They are Linley’s favorite flora, and she’ll have them in abundance at their wedding this fall. Many thanks to her friends for letting us trample — I mean, delicately tiptoe — through their flower patch!
Last stop, Cape Henlopen for a sunset picnic in the sand.
Thanks so much for rocking your e-session, guys! We can’t wait to share all of the fun details from your vintage wine & sunflower wedding at Rehoboth Beach Yacht & Country Club this fall!!
