Brad + Sheila’s Wilmington, Delaware Wedding

Hey guys! I know it’s been a while since we’ve blogged — things have been super busy around here! Leif wanted me to blog this week, and since it is his birthday week, and Brad and Sheila did tell us they’d love to be featured on our blog, prepare yourselves for some seriously fabulous photo-liciousness.

Wilmington-Delaware-Wedding-Photographers, Autumn Apple Orchard Engagement PhotoWhen we first did the engagement session with Sheila & Brad at Millburn Orchards in Elkton, we knew they’d be a fun couple! (I already knew Brad from our dorm days at the University of Delaware. We were neighbors back in the day & he realized it was me after they contacted us to book the wedding! Small world!). These two are sweet, silly, and absolutely head over heels in love!

Do you guys remember the amazing story about how Nick & Gina met at 30,000 feet?? Speaking of airplanes, time really “flew” by since we shot their engagement session this summer!

Gina & Nick traveled all the way from Washington, D.C. to have their destination wedding in Lewes Beach, Delaware. It was an absolutely gorgeous day!

You’ve Been Iced: Lewes, Delaware Wedding Photography

Leafo fans, meet Doug & Katie. Doug & Katie, welcome to the Internet. More importantly, welcome to your new life together!

Doug and I are old high school buddies, so when we touched base and were asked to shoot his wedding, Casey and I were STOKED! These two are great for each other, tons of fun, and always ready for a party. Great mix, right? Well, the wedding was a terrific set-up. It was on the beach, island themed, and they pretty much took over Lewes to make their wedding very much their own. One element that stood out was their pranking. Pretty much the entire bridal party got “iced” ALL DAY LONG. In case you aren’t familiar with the term, here is the official definition from Urban Dictionary:

(V). The act of drinking a Smirnoff Ice on one knee as fast as you can, following the presentation of the ‘ice’ in a clever manner.

Needless to say, it was a good time!

Nationally Published Delaware Wedding Photographers

Hey guys!! Guess what?? (Pause…) One of our weddings made the COVER of a NATIONAL MAGAZINE!!!! They did a huge feature & everything!

Remember Anna & Tai Jin? Here’s a link to their engagement session and the sneak peek we posted from their gorgeous Delaware beach wedding. Well, they submitted their wedding photography to the folks over at Stampington & they loved it so much that they made them the cover photo for Mingle magazine, featuring a six-page spread chock full of their Leafo wedding photos!!

Their wedding featured TONS of gorgeous handmade details, and we are so excited to share them with you!

An eclectic theme seamlessly combined elements from both of their backgrounds. Gorgeous handmade decor incorporated the ocean (where Anna’s family has spent many summers), while parasols, fish kites, and traditional delicacies offered a stylish nod to their shared loved for Chinese culture.

Pre-ceremony, we hit the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach. The entire wedding party & many guests headed into Funland for bumper cars and carousel rides. Afterward, a friend dressed in full mariachi regalia serenaded them. They were slicing through crowds better than Moses parted the Red Sea!

It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a beach wedding!

Anna & Tai-Jin, thank you both SO much for submitting our photos & inviting us to be part of your fantastically unique, beautiful wedding day! Many thanks also go out to Anna’s mother, Andrea, for designing all of those gorgeous decorative details! You can check out her blog, Dangling Threads, for even more creative genius 馃檪

Gina & Nick’s Airplane Engagement Photography

When we first met Nick & Gina, we knew it would be a good fit. They’re laid back, they love the beach, and they’re totally awesome! They’re also having their wedding catered by one of our favorite restaurants at the beach — Nage! We decided to meet there, because we love having a good excuse to grab a prime rib burger 馃檪

After chatting them up about their interests (both are runners, so they had a lot of stories to swap with Leif about the Warrior Dash, Run For Your Lives, and Tough Mudder!), we started talking about ideas for their engagement photos. Get this — these two actually met on a PLANE! They are both incredibly kind, and they met while both were helping other people. Gina was helping an elderly woman walk through the aisle to the restroom, and Nick was taking care of a co-worker who was feeling less than stellar. While waiting in line, they struck up a conversation, and sparks flew! After the flight, the two parted ways and Nick kicked himself for not grabbing her number. Fate intervened once again! They actually shared the same plane on the return flight, and Nick spotted Gina right at the end when she was letting people go ahead of her in line (once again, brought together by helping others!).

WHAT AN AWESOME STORY!!!!! Seriously, chills. I mean, with a story like that, our fate was pretty much sealed, too — we HAD to tie that in with their engagement shoot! Luckily, we have some incredibly awesome friends who were generous enough to hook us up with a sweet biplane for the photo session, and the rest is history! Check it out!

Nick and Gina, thank you so much for sharing your amazing story with us! We can’t wait to see you again for your beach wedding in Delaware this September!

Lewes Historical Society Wedding: Maren + Ryan

Maren & Ryan are an awesome couple. They currently live in Michigan, where Ryan is a top-notch college field hockey coach and Maren plays professional field hockey for the USA women’s team! Despite their busy schedules & frequent long-distance commutes, they’ve managed to maintain a laid-back attitude about everything. Their positive energy and quirky creativity is contagious, and it permeated every detail of their wedding day to make an event that was absolutely unique to them!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Maren’s Seychelles bridal shoes!!

Her dad was also styling that day with his white leather kicks & a tie clip embellished with Maren’s baby picture.

Ryan & Maren’s wedding rings. Our bride also wore another ring that belonged to her great grandmother, and she used blue string to size the band. (Old, new, borrowed, and blue — check!)

The ladies finished getting ready at the Lewes Historical Society.

Did we mention how adorable these shoes are??

Stunning.

Meanwhile, the guys diligently prepared for the wedding… 馃槈

The look on Ryan’s face says it all.

An absolutely gorgeous day at Canalfront Park in Lewes!

A very sweet sand ceremony. Maren’s dad is the Mayor of Lewes, so he was able to officiate their ceremony. So cool!

After the ceremony, we were able to sneak away with the couple for a few minutes & wander around downtown Lewes.

More details! The groom’s orange calla lillies really popped against the blue hydrangeas.

Branding at its best: these little labels adorned their dessert bar, invitations, and thank you cards. Way to theme it out, guys!

And a little bit louder now…

Sing it!

Rob & Jamie are perfect for each other.

A bold statement, I know. Let me explain.

Rob is one of our best friends, and we were with him on the night when he ran into Jamie again at the pub. They’d been friends for years & he’d always had a crush on her, but the timing just never seemed right and they lost touch. He literally GUSHED about her all night after their 30-second chat at the bar. Little did we know that she would become his future Mrs.! They balance each other incredibly well & are absolutely head-over-heels in love — true soul mates 馃檪

We were so happy when they announced their engagement earlier this year, and we had a blast at their laid-back outdoor wedding. Here are a few of our favorite memories from their big day!

They had an intimate, heartfelt wedding ceremony under the big oak tree at Trap Pond.

Lot, their wedding officiant, has been a close friend of Jamie’s family for years, making this day even more special for our couple.

They wrote their own vows, which turned out to be awesome, sweet, and absolutely hilarious. “I love how Jamie stays up late to watch UFC with me, even though she usually falls asleep before the main event.”

Thanks for the creepy eye contact, Rob. It looks like you’re about to eat my soul!

Leafo himself signing the marriage license. He was absolutely honored. (And self-conscious about his handwriting in front of the camera!)

Bill stealing the spotlight for the cake photos & more creepy eye contact from our hilarious groom!

And of course, what’s a Leafo wedding without a few sweet couple photos?

Jamie’s gorgeous baby blues 馃檪

Apparently they were teasing each other during their honeymoon about how we posed them. “Nuzzle, baby!”

Congratulations, Rob and Jamie!! We love you guys & it was truly an honor to be part of your wedding day. Thanks for being awesome!!
