Hey guys! I know it’s been a while since we’ve blogged — things have been super busy around here! Leif wanted me to blog this week, and since it is his birthday week, and Brad and Sheila did tell us they’d love to be featured on our blog, prepare yourselves for some seriously fabulous photo-liciousness.

When we first did the engagement session with Sheila & Brad at Millburn Orchards in Elkton, we knew they’d be a fun couple! (I already knew Brad from our dorm days at the University of Delaware. We were neighbors back in the day & he realized it was me after they contacted us to book the wedding! Small world!). These two are sweet, silly, and absolutely head over heels in love!

P.S. These were seriously some of the most amazing apples we’ve ever tasted! We brought home a huge bag — delicious!

So beautiful! Obviously, we were beyond stoked to hang out again when their wedding day rolled around!

Sheila looked stunning as we headed over to the Dupont Environmental Education Center in Wilmington to shoot a few pre-ceremony images.

The girls looked gorgeous all bundled up in their matching travel blankets.

The boys were bundled up, too — rock the beards, fellahs!

Gina & Nick traveled all the way from Washington, D.C. to have their destination wedding in Lewes Beach, Delaware. It was an absolutely gorgeous day!

The entire wedding party rode to the reception at Nassau Vineyards on the Jolly Trolley!

Meet Doug & Claire. Claire is a friend of ours from way back, so when she contacted us to shoot her wedding, we were thrilled! She & Doug are an amazing couple — fun-loving, incredibly positive, and all smiles and laughs

We started off their engagement session with a few photos at a beautiful covered bridge near their home in West Chester, PA.

Work it!

Cool story:  Claire is wearing her grandmother’s wedding ring as her engagement ring. Claire & Doug are both triathletes, so they spend a lot of time together training for events. When Doug proposed, he knew that she didn’t need another ring, so he bought her some amazing new racing gear for her bike & a beautiful Pandora bracelet. Each charm on her bracelet has a very personal meaning for her, including the one that tells their engagement story!

Since these two spend so much of their time training together, (they’ve even done Ironman competitions!), we had to include a little bit in their engagement shoot!

These two totally belong on a Wheaties box!

The entire event was beautiful, and took place at the San Juan Marriot. We had a chance to see the rehearsal and enjoy a beautiful dinner the night before with the whole group, a fun-loving bunch of close-knit peeps. We are in love with this family!! We actually started planning “destination birth” photos in France when future kiddos arrive. Just need to get Rob’s approval, haha!

As for our fantastic newlyweds,  Kristen & Erik are an absolute blast, and their love for each other radiated throughout the entire trip!

Ok, obviously these guys aren’t mad scientists, but they are scientists. Two incredibly smart, fun-loving cats that we hit it off with right away. Jonah digs for dinosaur bones and had this little guy available, so we figured “what better background for the ring shot?” I was geeking out the whole time! Coolest museum tour ever! We even got on the roof for a few shots!

Those who know my awful, dry humor will know that we HAD to do the Jonah and the whale shoot. For those who can listen to youtube videos in another tab, enjoy this appropriate song while you take in the rest of the blog post

Jonah is super sweet with Kelsey. You can tell these guys are a great match. It’s going to be a beautiful wedding.

On to Central Park! These guys were a blast the whole way through.

We really dig this couple. They were kind to us, fun,  and sweet to each other. Keep an eye out for their awesome farmstead wedding!

Tiffanee and Marcus are both hilarious to be around, and good to each other. Our kinda couple!

After the woods and trails, we went back for baking at the Leafo house. Tiffanee is a baker –she does wedding cakes, CALL HER!

She got this awesome apron just for the shoot. Lookin’ snazzy, Tiff!

See what I mean? These guys are clowns. I love that. I think we quoted Will Ferrell movies the WHOLE time.

Doug and I are old high school buddies, so when we touched base and were asked to shoot his wedding, Casey and I were STOKED! These two are great for each other, tons of fun, and always ready for a party. Great mix, right? Well, the wedding was a terrific set-up. It was on the beach, island themed, and they pretty much took over Lewes to make their wedding very much their own. One element that stood out was their pranking. Pretty much the entire bridal party got “iced” ALL DAY LONG. In case you aren’t familiar with the term, here is the official definition from Urban Dictionary:

Needless to say, it was a good time!

The girls got ready at the gorgeous Hotel Blue in Lewes.

Here he is! Doug dons his jacket for the beach wedding.

Aaaaand it starts!

The first icing of the day. Group effort on this one.

First the girls got the guys, then the guys pocketed the remaining bottles, and the onslaught of revenge was very, very present.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a beach wedding!

Party time!

Just before the wedding reception, the girls noticed a fun play on Kate’s name. Like I said, fun group!

The sweets of the night tasted just as good as they looked, and the island theme was beautiful.

After the cake cutting, there were toasts. Naturally, the best man iced the groom. Doug is a trooper; he chugged it all gone!

Of course, the traditional Grandma/Groom dance. Back it up, Doug!

Our fabulous bride had some moves, too!

That dance floor was packed all night!

…and the guests partied HARD.

A highschool buddies toast. Fun to be a part of this. I know all of these guys! They’re all good people and truly a blast!

After the reception was over, the after party rocked on the main floor of Irish Eyes.

Remember Anna & Tai Jin? Here’s a link to their engagement session and the sneak peek we posted from their gorgeous Delaware beach wedding. Well, they submitted their wedding photography to the folks over at Stampington & they loved it so much that they made them the cover photo for Mingle magazine, featuring a six-page spread chock full of their Leafo wedding photos!!

Their wedding featured TONS of gorgeous handmade details, and we are so excited to share them with you!

An eclectic theme seamlessly combined elements from both of their backgrounds. Gorgeous handmade decor incorporated the ocean (where Anna’s family has spent many summers), while parasols, fish kites, and traditional delicacies offered a stylish nod to their shared loved for Chinese culture.

Pre-ceremony, we hit the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach. The entire wedding party & many guests headed into Funland for bumper cars and carousel rides. Afterward, a friend dressed in full mariachi regalia serenaded them. They were slicing through crowds better than Moses parted the Red Sea!

It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a beach wedding!

When we first met Nick & Gina, we knew it would be a good fit. They’re laid back, they love the beach, and they’re totally awesome! They’re also having their wedding catered by one of our favorite restaurants at the beach — Nage! We decided to meet there, because we love having a good excuse to grab a prime rib burger

After chatting them up about their interests (both are runners, so they had a lot of stories to swap with Leif about the Warrior Dash, Run For Your Lives, and Tough Mudder!), we started talking about ideas for their engagement photos. Get this — these two actually met on a PLANE! They are both incredibly kind, and they met while both were helping other people. Gina was helping an elderly woman walk through the aisle to the restroom, and Nick was taking care of a co-worker who was feeling less than stellar. While waiting in line, they struck up a conversation, and sparks flew! After the flight, the two parted ways and Nick kicked himself for not grabbing her number.  Fate intervened once again! They actually shared the same plane on the return flight, and Nick spotted Gina right at the end when she was letting people go ahead of her in line (once again, brought together by helping others!).

WHAT AN AWESOME STORY!!!!! Seriously, chills. I mean, with a story like that, our fate was pretty much sealed, too — we HAD to tie that in with their engagement shoot! Luckily, we have some incredibly awesome friends who were generous enough to hook us up with a sweet biplane for the photo session, and the rest is history! Check it out!

I know I’ve mentioned this already, but we have been incredibly busy over the last few months & I am really excited to finally have the chance to blog about all of our adventures! Here’s an engagement session we shot in the fall — enjoy!

When we first met these two, we knew we were in for a good time. Brilliant, funny, and full of energy, they make each other laugh and their happiness is absolutely contagious. The two adore taking a break from their busy lives to wander the trails at Longwood Gardens, and this also happens to be the spot where E proposed! We lucked into an absolutely gorgeous Autumn day and could not have asked for a more beautiful backdrop to shoot their engagement photography. Check it out!

First of all, let’s talk about how awesome these two look! From the driver’s cap to the feathered earrings & riding boots, these guys are ready for their close-up! (Keep an eye out for this photo — E painted a miniature version of it to display at their wedding!)

I just love this shot. E always knows how to make M smile, and they are just so playful and cute!

Honestly, who sees a 300 pound pumpkin and DOESN’T want to snuggle against it immediately??
